Copenhagen Athletic Games 07.06.23.: Not only Lisa Rooms was impressive with her big 3000m PB in 8.54 and a 5th place (she also placed herself on 5th place at Belgian all-time ranking over this non-Olympic distance). But also Italian Joao Bussotti took a quite good second place in the 1500m with 3.37’53 at this Bronze Label meeting.
In the 5000m, Jacopo Di Marchi run a one-second PB with 13.44, just to be disqualified right after the race for having stepped once over the track line:-(. His Italian country fellow Ahmed Ouhda therefore took the 4th position with a PB of 13.48!
One day later, two other Bronze Label meetings with two other Wings for Athletes runners:
German Velten Schneider took second position at Hungarian Grand Prix Series in Budapest over 3000m steeple with a solid time of 8.35 – in that meeting where he run last year his PB of 8.32 ! Will he be back in Budapest in August for the big event? 🙂
Giulia Aprile had not her best day at Jessheim Elite1500 in Norway (4.17). But this was not to last long…
On Saturday 10.06. the ON:Track:Series made a stop in Montesson, France, at the fast5000 meeting: Juliette Thomas continued to cruise with another new PB of 16’09 (the old one was just 3 weeks ago in Karlsruhe), while Elisa Palmero was not yet fully recovered from her strong 10.000m PB race in Pacé one week ago and dropped out this time.
That same evening, Thaddée Adam and Killian Zicari unfortunately also dropped at Golden Spike meeting in Leiden (NL) over the 10.000m. The warm climate didn’t help them!
In Belgium, we had another great Flander’s Cup evening in Oordegem at Memorial Boyle. U20 runners and training partners Régis Thibert (picture below) and Simon Jeukenne (picture above) took the win & position two over 3000m, both with 8.06 and both with the EC U20 standard for Jerusalem this summer (already the second standard for Régis, after the 5000m). Arnaud Collard run a 1500m PB with 3.47’10.
The Italians had there Club Championships this past WE in Palermo and they have been all busy: the couple Giulia Aprile & Joao Bussotti both won their tactical 1500m races on Saturday with 3.44 and 4.13 and were both runner-up on Sunday over 5000m for Giulia (with quite good 16.01 !) and over 800m for Joao (1.47). Jacopo Di Marchi also won his tactical 5000m race with 14.14
