The week it was / 14.06. – 18.06.23.

Wednesday 14.06., Joao Bussotti from Italy continued his journey towards the European Bronze Label meeting circuit with another podium this time in Czech Republic, at Kladno Memorials. The 1500m was tactical and he got the third place with 3’40. It was a warm-up for what should follow…

Saturday 17.06., Danish runner Andreas Lindgreen could run a Silver Label 1500m at Kuartane Games in Finland. With a season best of 3’41’’97 he came again close to his PB and took a good 6th place.

That same evening, Jacopo Di Marchi just brook for the first time the 13’40 limit over 5000m at the ON:track:Night in Vienna, wish secured him the direct selection for the Italian 5000m championships. Great season from Jacopo so far: 13’45 in Karlsruhe, 13’44 in Copenhagen (but DQ) and now 13’39! German youngster Benjamin Dern missed his PB by less than 3 seconds in the same race (14’08).

Also Saturday at another Bronze Label meet, Anhalt Meeting in Dessau (GER) the two steeple runners Clément Deflandre & Velten Schneider in action: Clément run his second best career time with 8’35 (8th position, cf. picture above), while Velten was not far behind with 8’38 as 9th.

Dessau was the place to be for Joao Bussotti: in his fifth race between 07. and 17. June (due to the Italian club championships) he finally made it to a new PB of 3’35’99 and a second position! Congratulations Joao and recover well, the summer will be hot!

Last but not least, Vera Hoffmann from Luxembourg took the opportunity to compete at another Silver Label meeting, the Memorial Cybulski in Poznan (POL) on Sunday. In a quite slowly paced race, she closed with a very fast last lap, took the 5th rank in a strong field and despite all she brook again her PB and national record with 4’06’’94!

Next week, not less than 4 Wings for Athletes runner are going to represent their country colors at the European Nations Cup in Silesia: Lisa Room (BEL, 5000m), Enzo Noel (BEL, 5000m), Clément Deflandre (BEL, 3000m steeple) and Vera Hoffmann (LUX, 1500m). Good luck guys!
