Many athletes had their first serious outdoor season race opportunity this WE and it was a firework of strong results!
The „runners track night“ in Karlsruhe became a PB night for many of the team members:
Joao Bussotti (IT) opened his season as fast as never before over 1500m: 3.36’79 and 5th place. Wow! Over the same distance, Belgian 10.000m national champion Enzo Noel used the “sprint distance” to improve his PB: 3.49’08.
Giulia Aprile came 6th in the women field with 4’16 and only one hour later, she perfectly paced the 5000m girls during 6 laps. Great job Giulia!
Over 5000m, Clément Deflandre delivered his first sub14 with a nice 13.52 PB! His training partners Régis Thibert was not much slower by winning the 5000m B-heat in super impressive 14’05 at age 19 only!! He won of course the U20 ranking. Their club mate Arnaud Collard run a 3sec PB in 14.17.
The 5000m girls showed all strong shape: Lisa Rooms confirmed her flow from Los Angeles two weeks ago by missing her PB just by one second, clocking 15.27 on 5th position. While Italian Elisa Palmero run a hugh PB and a first sub16min with 15’42. And youngster Juliette Thomas run even a bigger PB moving down from previously 16.35 to 16.14. Proficiat girls!
Junior steeple runner Simon Jeukenne had a promising debut over the 3000m steeple distance with 9’09! More to come soon…
In London took place the famous „Night of the 10000m PB’s“. Lucas Da Silva wanted to honor his spot in the strong A-heat field and started the first 5000m in very fast 14.03, but he had to pay for it and just missed his PB by two seconds at the end, clocking 29.12.
Yonas Kinde rocked once again the streets of his hometown Luxembourg by winning the quite hilly half-marathon distance at ING Night Marathon in good 67.57.
Last but not least: 1500m runner Vera Hoffmann (LUX) had the chance to run her first outdoor WA Gold Label Meeting at Yokohama Grand Prix in Japan. And she didn’t disappoint at all, finish on the podium due to a very fast last lap (61’!) and a good time of 4.12’54.
Looks like an exciting season ahead of us….
Keep on running!
